From September 9th to 12th, 2024, Trusted Corporation, in collaboration with the Swiss Business Hub Japan, proudly hosted a delegation of top management from leading Japanese companies to explore Switzerland’s innovation hotspots dedicated to clean energy, decarbonization, and sustainable technologies.
This exclusive delegation included representatives from Chiyoda Corporation, Yokogawa, Lixil, Osaka Gas, KPMG Consulting, YAMAHA MOTOR, Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems, Hitachi Energy, Honda R&D, Idemitsu and Panasonic.
The delegation was strongly impressed by the academia and startup technologies being developed in the Swiss innovation ecosystem. Advanced innovation is facilitated due to Switzerland’s effective policy-making, its attractiveness towards global talent, and its ability to bring together key players and resources. By strategically structuring its innovation ecosystems, Switzerland ensures that the most promising technologies developed in the country reach commercialization efficiently. It has solidified itself as one of the most productive nations in the world in terms of co-creation.
Highlights of the Visit:
Kickoff with the Parliamentary Friendship Group Switzerland Japan:
The delegation was welcomed by the Parliamentary Friendship Group Switzerland-Japan and the Swiss-Japanese Chamber of Commerce – SJCC. This event featured insightful speeches and discussions on shared goals in decarbonization, providing a unique platform for high-level government engagement between Japan and Switzerland.
Innovations at Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich and Empa:
After attending the #SwissJapanEnergyDays at ETH Zürich in the morning, the delegation explored groundbreaking developments in sustainable technologies at Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich and Empa, including advancements in energy solutions, robotics, and materials science, highlighting the potential for international collaboration.
Swiss-Japanese Networking Reception in Zurich:
A networking reception, co-hosted by the Swiss-Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Switzerland Innovation, and EY Switzerland, provided an opportunity for direct engagement with peers across sectors, fostering potential collaborations in energy transition and technological innovation.
Exploration of Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne:
The delegation visited the Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne, focusing on cutting-edge advancements in battery technology, Industry 4.0, and advanced manufacturing, with presentations from the Swiss Battery Technology Center, Swiss Smart Factory, and Swiss Advanced Manufacturing Center.
Engaging Evening Reception at EPFL Innovation Park:
A networking reception at EPFL Innovation Park facilitated connections between Swiss and Japanese innovators, featuring presentations from CSEM, Almatech, and other key players, and fostering discussions on sustainable technology solutions.
A Day at Energypolis:
The delegation’s visit to Campus Energypolis showcased Switzerland’s leadership in energy and environmental innovation, with presentations from top research institutes and innovative startups in the cleantech sector.
Trusted will work closely with all participating companies to design concrete projects that will utilize the Swiss innovation ecosystems to co-create solutions by sharing technologies and know-how from Japan. To ensure more effective collaboration, part of Trusted’s team will be based in Switzerland, working alongside ecosystem players to execute these projects effectively.
